Bahrain Attain a Leading Position in the "Travel and Tourism Competitiveness" Index

The Kingdom of Bahrain ranked 64th globally in the 2019 “Travel and Tourism Competitiveness” Index, out of 140 countries included in the World Economic Forum's September report.

The report showed that the Kingdom achieved good progress compared to 2017, according to the four basic standards on which the report is based on its assessment and reading of the situation of countries. These standards include the flexibility of travel requirements, entry and accommodation policies, the tourism infrastructure of hotels, guest houses, etc., as well as the cultural resources and environmental sustainability expressed by the diversity of tourism programs and activities offered and ensuring the sustainable development of the sector.

According to the report, Bahrain has succeeded in revitalizing the wheel of travel and tourism to it in recent years, and proceeded with its plans and programs aimed at achieving openness and development of the sector and make it a centerpiece of the structure of the national economy and an important source of income.

Bahrain was among the most developed countries in a number of sub-indices, with a score of 5.2 in the specialized business environment based on marketing and promotion of tourism programs, 6.0 in the level of security and safety enjoyed by visitors, and 4.6 in the service structure index available to the sector and make it easier for tourists to come and stay.
